Living in Maine, playing with fun radio stuff – life can’t get any better!

I’m a New England boy, born and raised where the winters were cold and the summers were…fragrant.  Grew up listening to music and got my first radio job when I was 16, working for a (now off-air) country station in Massachusetts.  Maybe you’ve had a job like this – I’d get dressed up in the station mascot’s costume (it was a giant parrot) and go to remote broadcasts where I’d shake peoples’ hands and get their photo taken with me.  It was just like being famous, except that no one knew who the kid in the costume was!  I could make a complete fool of myself in public and not get in trouble…In fact, it was encouraged!  When I wasn’t doing that I’d be making commercials, writing news, recording weather forecasts – anything that would keep me in that building.

Working at that station taught me that I wanted to try radio for a living, so I went to school in Boston and got a degree in (yes, they actually have these) Audio/Radio Broadcasting.  Then…nothing!  It’s tough getting into the radio field, and I stayed in Boston for an extra year applying for jobs anywhere I could just to get a start.  Had a close call – almost ended up working in Erie, PA – but after a year of looking finally found a group of stations in Portland, Maine that was looking for someone for six hours a week.  I moved up here for the job, built my life around those six hours, and have been happy up here ever since.  I work with good people, play fun music, bicycle in the summer, stay inside and read in the winter, and enjoy all that Maine has to offer.  Hope you  enjoy listening – drop me a line when you get a chance!
