I actually know Mary Chapin Carpenter... does that count??
My path to WPOR has to be the most unorthodox of anyone here.
Well, let's see.. Similarly to Kid Rock (this is true), I started out in the early 80s as a Hip Hop DJ. Breakdancing and rocking house parties all over town. My background is Urban. Not Keith Urban, but Washington DC urban. I have worked in recording studios, DJed in clubs, corporate events and weddings for close to 15 years. My radio background has been mostly Hip Hop and R&B for the last 8 years. So, naturally I thought I would be completely out of my element at WPOR.
But, I pride myself as a well rounded DJ and I certainly do love a challenge. To my surprise, I actually knew all of the artists. Just being involved in the music industry, I realized how much country I have been exposed to in my life without even trying! But, having said that, I am still learning a ton of stuff at WPOR every day. If you have any questions please feel free to ask."
